ABSTRACT

This study assesses the oral skills and performance in the English Language among Junior Secondary School III students in Ikot Ekpene Education zone. Beginning from the first chapter, three research questions and three research hypothesis was used for the premises of this research work, also different learning theories from writers like B. F Skinner and Pavlov was used to ascertain how the earning of oral pronunciation that helps in the use and articulation of the second language (L2) which is English Language is carried out. In chapter three the simple random sampling technique was employed to obtain the sample as students were selected randomly to answer the questionnaire that was administered and also used as a tool for this study mainly in four local government areas in the Ikot Ekpene education zone comprising the rural and urban settings. All the 120 questionnaires were returned and the research questions were analyzed and also used in testing the hypothesis. This however led to the acceptance and reflection of the three hypothesis. Therefore the following conclusions and recommendations were discussed.
