ABSTRACT
Boundary and Topographic mapping has become a very essential activity for any
area that intends to develop. The study focused on boundary and topographical
survey of part of Gwallameji Village, Bauchi. Topography means configuration of
the earth surface which include relief, the positions of streams, road, and
vegetation etc. the project aimed producing boundary and topographic map of the
study area which can be used for planning, design or engineering work.
topographic maps use symbols to represent natural and human constructed features
found in the environment. The symbols used to represent the features can be of
three types: points, lines, and polygons. This project seeks to use GIS to produce
topographical map of part of Gwallameji village. Data sources were from
perimeter survey carried out using total station, satellite imagery of the study area
from Google earth pro, GPS coordinates for spot heighten, the satellite images
were stored in a digital format, Coordinate was picked using GPS for geo-
referencing, shape files were created, the details within the area was digitized layer
by layer, The data was processed, edit and analyzed in ArcGIS 9.3, the database
automatically created was modified and some queries were raised as test of
instrument, boundary and topographical map was produced at a scale of 1:4000 in
both hard and soft copy. Finally, the aim of the project was achieved.
