ABSTRACT
This research project was designed to determine the strategies for improving the management of automobile workshops in technical colleges in Niger State. The major aim and objectives of this study was to determine the strategies for improving the management of automobile workshops, determine the strategies that can enhance the improvement of the management of automobile workshops. The researchers designed a questionnaire to solicit information from the respondents. Stratified purposive sampling technique was used in selecting three (3) specific technical colleges within the three senatorial zone of Niger sate, They are Suleiman Barau government technical college from “B”, Eyagi government technical college Bida from Zone ‘A’ and Government technical college kontagora from zone ‘C’. A total of one hundred and twenty eight (128) samples were drawn. The researchers used descriptive survey research in carrying out the study. The data obtained were analyzed using mean, statistics. The findings of the study suggest that the challenges that are affecting the management of automobile workshops in technical colleges in Niger state are
i. Due to lack of train automobile workshops instructors
ii. Poor awareness on the modern workshop management in technical colleges.
Based on the findings, it was recommended that strategies should be put in place by the government in providing seminar for both automobile teachers/instructors on how to use and management modern automobile workshops. The government should look at the lapses in managing automobile workshops and ensure that those tools and equipment needed for effective management of automobile workshops in technical colleges in Niger are really available and government are to inspect the workshop to ensure the facilities available are used properly in the workshops.
