This study evaluated secondary school principal’s administrative effectiveness in secondary school administration in Owerri zone, Imo State, Nigeria. The design was descriptive and involved 200 teachers, 40 principals in 40 public secondary schools in owerri zone, Imo State selected by multi stage simple random sampling technique. A rating scale was used to collect data for the study. A reliability coefficient of 0.93 was computed using Pearson Product Correlation. Six research questions and two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using mean rating, standard deviation and correlation. The study showed that principals administrative effectiveness does not  differ significantly and that principals need a better communication style to bridge the communication gap in communicating among principals, staff and community. The study also showed that the principals are effective in maintaining school plants, staff and student personnel administration. Also revealed is significant relationship between male and female, rural and urban principals administrative effectiveness. It was concluded that the administrative effectiveness of principals depends on the active communication involvement of teachers and community since principals cannot do it all.
