ABSTRACT
The aim of the research work is to assess the role of the Media in anti-corruption campaign; Corruption is perhaps one of the factors that are impeding the accelerated socio-economic transformation of developing countries of the world today. In Nigeria, corruption is one of the many unresolved problems that have critically hobbled and skewed development. The media have been identified as a very important weapon in fighting the scourge of corruption worldwide. In Nigeria, the freedom of press has remarkably help in checkmating the excesses of government as well as others in positions of authorities. The story of the Nigerian Mass Media can be said to be a story of struggle since the late nineteenth century when the first newspaper Iwe Irohin was established in Abeokuta, present day Ogun State, by a Missionary, Henry Townsend in 1859. Political corruption in Nigeria encompasses the use of official power and government resources for sordid and disreputable private gains, there have been cases of official misuse of resources for personal enrichment. To this end, every society that desires progress must do ceaseless battle with the constant attempt of negative forces to bring the social structure under its Inglorious dominance. This is because corruption as a disintegrative social factor often prevents social, political and economic development of a nation, just as poverty works against enduring democracy. The researcher followed survey design steps in the bid to solve the research problem. The choice of the survey method was necessary because of it relevancy in terms of efficiency and usefulness in collecting relevant data. A questionnaire was also designed, which consist both closed and open ended questions. The questions contained therein were carefully crafted to elicit that data which are vital to solve the research problems. The population of AIT Kaduna comprises of the staff and management of the broadcast station who are 180 in number. Therefore, a sample of 120 was chosen at random from the above total population figure.
