ABSTRACT

This study examined the role of the UN in management of global terrorism with special reference to Afghanistan. We explored the following questions: Has the UN anti terrorism resolutions reduced the incidence of global terrorism in Afghanistan? Is there any link between invasion of Afghanistan by US and her Middle East foreign policy? We adopted the Marxian analysis of political economy to examine UN efforts in management of international terrorism with emphasis on Afghanistan. This theory was developed by Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels about 1847.Based on the research problem, we  hypothesized as follows: The UN has not reduced the incidence of global terrorism in Afghanistan through her resolutions. There is a positive link between invasion of Afghanistan by US and her Middle
East foreign policy. Our method of data collection in this study is observation of documented evidence. We also adopted descriptive qualitative method in analysis of this study. The major findings of this study are as follows: that the UN has not reduced the incidence of global terrorism in Afghanistan through her resolutions. Again, there is a positive link between invasion of Afghanistan by US and her Middle East foreign policy. We recommended among others that the UN and the governments should form new global peace policy for the 21st century and to find juridical and political means to fight international terrorism, to end conflicts and to foster peaceful societies where the human rights of all people are guaranteed.
