ABSTRACT
The research study was designed and carried out basically to check the effects of Blended Learning Approach in teaching physics in public and private secondary schools in Uyo local government area, Akwa Ibom state. Quasi-experimental research design was used, two (2) research questions and two (2) hypotheses were formulated and tested to guide the study. The population of the study comprised of 4,221 Senior Secondary School Two (SS2) Physics students. The sample size consisted of 60 Senior Secondary School Two (SS2) physics students randomly selected from the population. Purposive-random sampling technique was employed in selecting two (2) private schools with an intact class of 30 students from each school making it a total of students for the sample size. The instrument used for the study was Physics Achievement Test on Refraction of Light (PATRL). Kuder Richardson 21 formular was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and an internal consistency reliability coefficient of 0.98 was obtained and this was considered reliable for the study. Data obtained from the study was subjected to t-test analysis to test for the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that there is no significant difference in the mean achievement scores of students taught the concept of refraction of light using Blended Learning Approach and those taught the same concept using face-to-face teaching approach. it was recommended that physics teachers in secondary schools should use Blended Learning Approach in teaching since it is student centered and interesting in teaching physics concepts.
