ABSTRACT
This study was to assess the hypertension status among lecturers of school of health technology Minna, Niger state. To guide the study, four objectives and research questions were formulated. The review of related literature was discussed under the theoretical frame work of hypertension pattern / level of blood pressure status, body life style and summary of review of related literature. The descriptive survey design was used to constitute the population of 50 respondents in the school of health technology Minna. The questionnaire, blood pressure apparatus and the weighing scales was the instrument used for data collection developed to generate date in four areas of research questions. The date was analyzed using mean statistics and simple percentage accordingly. The research reveals that hypertension is real among lecturers of school of health technology Minna cutting across all grade of hypertension, mild moderate and severe. Many factors contribute to hypertension among the lecturers which include stressful condition, bad working condition work over load, lack of motivation and psychological disturbances. Therefore the diseases can be prevented or controlled by improving the working condition, good relationship including good dietary habit, avoidance of smoking and alcoholism. Also early identification and notification of the disease and sticking to medical advice will go along way in preventing and controlling the disease and its complication.
