ABSTRACT

This study examined relationship between human resources planning and employees’ performance in University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Akwa Ibom State. The study utilized survey research design. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) was employed to test the relationship among the variables. Data were collected using a sample of two hundred and nine respondents (209) from University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH). Following analysis of collected data, the study established that employees’ attraction, retention and talent management were significantly related with employees’ performance. Based on this finding, it was recommended that Management of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Akwa Ibom State should provide reasonable incentive, favorable working environment and adequate training of staff as it will enhance the performance of employees in the hospital. Management of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Akwa Ibom State should do everything possible to make employees remain in the hospital by responding promptly to employees’ welfare and safety. Management of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Akwa Ibom State should consider talent management as a priority through employees’ involvement, knowledge sharing and opportunity to handle tasks and responsibilities that are outside their domain in the hospital.
